My Portfolio

Ms. Magazine: 50 Years of Ms. Book Tour
I produced the book tour for the launch of the collection 50 Years of Ms. — managing logistics talent, and run of show for three dozen events in over one dozen markets featuring Ms. editors and contributors in conversation with feminist scholars, activists and movement leaders.
Venues included local bookstores, cultural institutions, and the US Capitol; speakers included Dolores Huerta, Loretta Ross, Aimee Allison, Abigail Disney, Pussy Riot co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova, and yours truly.

Michelle Hartney: Unplanned Parenthood
I orchestrated the social media and outreach strategies for the launch of Michelle Hartney’s UNPLANNED PARENTHOOD project — a collaborative textile installation calling for reproductive justice for all.
We landed exclusive press pieces with feminist outlets and booked digital launch events, which led to hundreds of volunteer sign-ups and amplification from reproductive rights organizations like Plan C, ReproAction, and Power to Decide, and powerhouses like Gloria Steinem, Amanda de Cadenet, and Hannah Brancato.

Feminist Majority Foundation: Global Women’s Rights Awards
I planned and produced the Feminist Majority Foundation’s 15th and 16th Global Women’s Rights Awards — overseeing invitations and outreach, managing budgets and contracts, booking talent, and supervising the on-site experience for honorees and 300 guests.
Honorees included Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Dr. Sima Samar, Amed Khan, Nazanin Boniadi, former Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Dr. Austin Dennard, and Sahra Mani. Jay and Mavis Leno, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and Amy Brenneman delivered remarks.

Michele Pred: THE ART OF EQUAL PAY
I worked closely with artist Michele Pred to re-envision and launch The Art of Equal Pay — a year-long campaign encouraging women artists to raise their rates to increase awareness of the wage gap in visual art — in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
With my help, the campaign launch was amplified on social media by organizations and individuals like Gloria Steinem, Sally Kohn, One Fair Wage, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the National Partnership for Women and Families — and participating artists made $3,100 dollars for COVID relief efforts in just one week.

The Jane Club: NEW YEAR, NEW JANE
I produced a series of large, public digital events — including the annual New Year, New Jane Summit and the 2021 Lift as We Rise Summer Summit — for The Jane Club, a virtual co-working space for women. I managed the entire event planning process — including logistics, talent, sponsorships, digital properties and tech, and promotion — and oversaw talent and team prep.
Speakers included Phoebe Robinson, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, Arlan Hamilton, Marta Kauffman, Eve Rodsky, and Anne Helen Petersen, and each event led to a major bump in Club membership. After the inaugural event, Jane hit a milestone of 500 members.

AWID: Feminist Communicators Working Group
I joined a working group of feminist communicators, strategists, and digital activists convened by the Association for Women in Development — a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organization working to achieve gender justice and women’s human rights worldwide.
We met regularly to critique, explore, strategize, and envision the ways in which AWID and other feminist organizations could best communicate and engage with their audiences and communities.

An Economy of Our Own: Digital Strategy
After being asked to join AEOO’s Advisory Board, I stepped into the role of Digital Director to help establish the initiative online during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping its leadership re-envision its launch in lieu of an in-person event and designing social assets, event programs, and marketing funnels for the initiative.
Under my leadership, AEOO produced dozens of digital events and developed a popular newsletter. My work attracted hundreds of new followers to the project on social media and helped AEOO raise thousands of dollars.

WOMEN’S ACTION FOR NEW DIRECTIONS: Editorial Strategy
WAND, a volunteer-run organization building a women-led movement for peace, came to me for help equipping their presence in the popular press.
I leveraged my background in working with scholars to write in their own voices about major issues to craft strategic plans for WAND’s work — identifying key outlets, designing an editorial calendar for their specialty areas, and creating a workbook designed to guide their staff and stakeholders through the process of drafting, editing, and pitching their work to media outlets.

Ms. Magazine: Digital Re-invigoration
I helped lead Ms. through the process of a website redesign and an editorial re-invigoration online — crafting successful digital and editorial strategies through my tenures as Managing and Consulting Digital Editor to increase reader engagement, expand Ms. membership programs and otherwise bring Ms. into the 21st Century.
I also fostered relationships with dozens of partner platforms and organizations and recruited as many new contributors and writers — doubling content production.

Autostraddle: Digital + Community Strategies
I expanded Autostraddle’s community offerings as the organization’s consulting Community Director — steering dozens of offline meet-up weeks for queer people around the world and creating new online streams of user-generated content by and for members.
In my parallel role as Social Media Co-Director, I fostered greater engagement with content across platforms — including a boost in referral traffic by over 500 percent — and expanded participation in Autostraddle’s own social media platform, Autostraddle Social.

IWPR: Strategic Communication
I cut my teeth in organizational communications while I was an intern at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research — stepping up during a time of staff transition to maintain the organization’s media and communications operations.
As a Communications Assistant, I helped land coverage for the organization; designed and wrote press materials, including reports and statements on women’s economic progress; and led a series of social media scaling workshops with the IWPR team.

Hollaback!: Social Media Strategy
When the anti-street harassment organization Hollaback! was reorganizing in 2010 — and launching its groundbreaking app to track street harassment in real-time — I came on board as a social media consultant to design a strategy for the organization’s centralized accounts that spoke for its global community of HB! chapters.
I helped launch and promote a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the app’s development, advised on its design, and wrote out unique strategies for every platform for the organization to put into practice in the years to come—reaching millions worldwide.
